Athanasios Kyritsis was born in 1989 in Karditsa, Greece. He received his joint B.Sc. and M.Sc. Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2014. His diploma thesis was about "Electric and Magnetic Fields Measurements at CERN".

He first arrived in Geneva in February 2013 when he started working at CERN as a technical student. During his 14-month internship, he elaborated his diploma thesis on non-ionizing radiation measurements and worked on the electrical characterization of sensors and additional components.

Due to his passion for R&D, he joined TaM in May 2015. to pursue a Ph.D. in Information Systems. He worked on several European AAL projects and Swiss national Innosuisse ones. He has been publishing his work in esteemed conferences, and he defended his Ph.D. entitled "Enhancing Wellbeing Using Artificial Intelligence Techniques" in December 2019.

He was also the teaching assistant in several courses, including "Programming languages" and "Mobile systems and services". He was also the lecturer of the "Introduction to information systems" course, teaching data models and MySQL.

Currently, he is working in TaM as a Postdoc researcher, having the role of a data scientist and software engineer. His main research interests include machine learning, sensors, and algorithmic design.
